The Nigeria Police Force has disclaimed a purported “AFRIPOL 2026” programme being circulated online, stating that it neither approved nor endorsed the initiative.
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid described the programme as unauthorized and condemned the use of the name “AFRIPOL,” noting that it refers to the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation, an official continental policing institution established under the African Union framework.
The Force further stated that its leadership did not authorize the use of the image of the Inspector-General of Police, the official police logo, or the identity of the Force in connection with the programme.
The police warned members of the public and corporate organizations against engaging with or sponsoring the event, urging them to disregard any related publication or request for payment.
