In a significant move aimed at enhancing transparency and citizen participation in government projects, President Bola Tinubu has directed the reactivation of the Presidential Delivery Tracker.
In an official statement, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Chief Ajuri Ngelale said this digital platform will empower Nigerians to track the real-time progress of various projects across the country.
President Tinubu made this announcement during the closing session of the three-day Cabinet Retreat held in Abuja on Friday. He expressed unwavering determination to actively engage citizens in governance and emphasized the importance of providing all Nigerians with the opportunity to monitor and report on the implementation of vital projects.
The President has entrusted his Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, with the task of reactivating the tracking system. He expects this revitalized system to harness cutting-edge digital innovation to offer real-time oversight capabilities for the benefit of all Nigerians.
In addition to this groundbreaking initiative, President Tinubu outlined his administration’s top priorities, which include:
Economic Reform for Inclusive Growth
National Security Enhancement for Peace and Prosperity
Agricultural Development to Achieve Food Security
Sustainable Utilization of Energy and Natural Resources
Infrastructure and Transportation Improvement for Economic Growth
Investment in Education, Health, and Social Welfare
Diversification through Industrialization, Digitization, Creative Arts, Manufacturing, and Innovation
Governance Enhancement for Effective Service Delivery
The President urged his cabinet members to work diligently to meet the expectations of the Nigerian people. He emphasized that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” goes beyond economic growth and is about building a more just and equitable society for all Nigerians.
President Tinubu also highlighted the critical role of data in effective governance, stating, “Data is the lifeblood of effective governance. It enables us to understand the challenges we face so that we can design and implement effective solutions as well as monitor and evaluate our progress. Without data, we are flying blind.”
The climax of the retreat was the signing of performance bonds by ministers and permanent secretaries, alongside President Tinubu himself. The President emphasized the need for diligence, innovative thinking, commitment, and a relentless focus on achieving tangible results from all implementing authorities.
This momentous development is poised to usher in a new era of transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s governance, enabling citizens to actively participate in monitoring the progress of projects and holding the government accountable for its commitments.
