Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested 18 individuals linked to the logistics supply chain of Boko Haram, underscoring the persistent civilian involvement that sustains insurgent activities in Nigeria’s North-East.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspects were intercepted while moving through Gubio towards the Gudumbali axis, allegedly transporting supplies for terrorist groups. Initial statements suggest that economic hardship played a role in drawing the individuals into the illicit network, reflecting how insurgents exploit vulnerable populations.
The Nigerian Army has issued a stern warning to all citizens against providing any form of support to terrorist groups. Supplying logistics, sharing intelligence, or assisting insurgents in any capacity is a serious offence that endangers national security and the lives of innocent civilians.
Authorities emphasised that counter-terrorism efforts require the active cooperation of host communities. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity promptly and resist any attempts by criminal elements to enlist their assistance.
Security experts also highlighted the importance of community-focused development initiatives. Sustained support for programmes in empowerment, skills development, and access to essential services can reduce vulnerabilities and discourage recruitment into terrorist networks.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting communities and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens, noting that lasting peace will require a combination of robust security operations and strong community partnerships. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and united with the Armed Forces in rejecting terrorism in all its forms.
