Troops under Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with other security agencies, have intensified ongoing security operations across the South-East, recording notable successes in Enugu and Ebonyi states under Operation Eastern Sanity.
According to a statement issued by Lieut. Col. Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division Nigerian Army, the troops of the 82 Division Garrison, deployed at Akama in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, responded to credible intelligence on a kidnap attempt along the Akama–Iwollo Road.
The troops swiftly engaged the suspected criminals, leading to the rescue of four abducted persons.
Those rescued were identified as Chisom Kingsley and Chuoke Chinedu, both from Akama, as well as Jonathan Paul Chukwu from Akwa Ibom State and Patience John from Taraba State. Security operatives also recovered a motorcycle and a vehicle during the operation. The victims, along with the recovered items, were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation.
In a related development, troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, carried out a follow-up operation in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, based on intelligence obtained from the earlier arrest of a suspected insurgent commander, Chinedu Igautu, popularly known as “Calamity,” and four associates.
The operation resulted in the arrest of another suspected member of the IPOB/ESN network, identified as Chisom Agashi Ogadego, also known as “Baron.” Preliminary findings indicated his alleged involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities within the state.
Military authorities said the suspect provided actionable intelligence that led to further breakthroughs, including the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, magazines, and ammunition from a location within Izzi Local Government Area.
The Army noted that the operations reflect the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven strategies aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring security across the South-East region.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance ongoing operations
