Troops rescue six kidnap victims in Kaduna

Troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six abducted persons during a security operation in the Kajuru/Kujama general area of Kaduna State.

The rescue, carried out on January 5, 2026, followed a coordinated series of operations across multiple axes in Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia and Kagarko Local Government Areas, including communities bordering Kauru. The operations were aimed at degrading the operational capacity of violent extremist groups and denying them freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.

According to military sources, troops of Sub-Sector 5, who were already conducting clearance operations in the Kujeni area, swiftly responded to a distress alert regarding the activities of armed criminals around the Kasso adjoining hills. Upon arrival, the troops engaged the criminals with effective suppressive fire, forcing them to retreat in disarray into the surrounding forest.

The troops subsequently exploited the area, leading to the successful rescue of six kidnapped victims. The rescued persons were later handed over to representatives of the Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for reunification with their families.

Commending the troops for their professionalism and bravery, the General Officer Commanding and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, charged them to remain on maximum alert and sustain the current aggressive operational tempo to further deny criminal elements freedom of action within the area.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and security across Kaduna State and the wider North-West region.
