Nigerian travellers have been urged to comply strictly with visa conditions, as overstays and related violations could adversely affect legitimate travel opportunities for other citizens.
In a post on it verified Facebook page, the US Embassy in Abuja note that non-compliance—particularly visa overstays—can undermine bilateral confidence and lead to tighter entry requirements, thereby limiting access for students, business travellers and families who adhere to immigration rules.
The Embassy emphasized that responsible travel behaviour is essential to preserving mobility pathways and sustaining international cooperation. They warn that patterns of abuse may trigger broader restrictions that impact even compliant applicants.
It urges members of the public who are aware of visa fraud or related infractions are encouraged to report such cases via AbujaFPU@state.gov or LagosFPU@state.gov.
The Embassy maintain that collective adherence to visa regulations will help safeguard travel privileges and protect opportunities for Nigerians seeking education, commerce and family reunification abroad.
