1,187 cadets commissioned as ASP

The Federal Government has commissioned 1,187 cadets of Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), marking their formal induction into the Nigeria Police Force.

The Passing Out Parade, held on Saturday at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, signalled the completion of five years of rigorous academic and professional training. The new officers also earned Bachelor’s degrees across various disciplines, equipping them with both academic and operational competencies for modern policing.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, congratulated the graduating officers and charged them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to comprehensive police reforms, enhanced welfare, and stronger operational capacity.

The ceremony attracted high-profile guests, including the Head of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Shanta Emily Knowles; Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf; representatives of the military high command; members of the National Assembly; top security chiefs; senior police officers; traditional rulers; and families of the graduands.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the cadets for their discipline, resilience, and commitment throughout their training. He stressed that effective policing is anchored on character and professionalism, urging the new ASPs to remain dedicated to safeguarding lives and property while strengthening public trust in the Police.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to developing highly trained and educated officers capable of tackling contemporary security challenges facing the country.
