147 Nigerian returnees arrive from Niger Republic

 The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, on May 19, 2025, assisted in receiving 147 Nigerian returnees repatriated from Niamey, Niger Republic. The group arrived at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at approximately 10:50 a.m.

The repatriation was coordinated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with various government and humanitarian stakeholders supporting migrant reintegration.

The returnees comprised 54 adult males, 24 male children, 37 adult females, and 32 female children. Following their arrival, they were transported to Chilla Hotel later that evening, where initial accommodation arrangements were made.

Profiling and documentation were conducted on May 20, 2025. The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) provided immediate medical attention to those with minor health complaints.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to support stranded Nigerians abroad and ensure their safe reintegration into society.
