2027: Oluremi Tinubu leads APC women’s mobilisation

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has declared that President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term, urging women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take the administration’s reform message to the grassroots and mobilise Nigerians for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Mrs. Tinubu spoke on Monday in Abuja while inaugurating the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council for the 2027 elections under the theme, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity.”

She said the Federal Government’s economic reforms were beginning to yield tangible results, citing declining inflation, rising foreign reserves, renewed investor confidence and increased support for farmers as indications that the economy was stabilising.

“Our economy is stabilizing, inflation is coming down, foreign reserves are growing, and investors are returning to Nigeria,” she said.

The First Lady also highlighted the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that university students could access interest-free loans to support their education.

According to her, the administration’s achievements were no longer limited to policy pronouncements but were increasingly reflected in the lives of Nigerians and the broader economy.

“The theme of this year’s rally is not just a slogan; it is our reality,” she said.

Describing President Tinubu as a courageous leader willing to take difficult decisions in the national interest, Mrs. Tinubu charged APC women to become the administration’s principal grassroots communicators ahead of the polls.

She directed members of the campaign council to move across the country, engage communities and persuade voters to support the APC presidential candidate as well as the party’s candidates for governorship, the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.

The First Lady also announced the consolidation of various women support groups campaigning for the President into a unified APC campaign structure.

“We have collapsed every other women support group into one—from Tinubu Again to Torch Bearers and others,” she said.

“What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We are here to promote APC, nothing less.”

She disclosed plans for six geopolitical zonal mega-rallies, state-level rallies and a grand finale in Abuja as part of the party’s nationwide mobilisation programme.

Mrs. Tinubu said she would participate in the zonal campaigns alongside the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and other senior party figures.

At the state level, she said mobilisation would involve the wives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as the Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum.

Earlier, the APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile Idele, urged members of the newly inaugurated council to translate the administration’s reform agenda into sustained grassroots engagement.

Alile said the “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity” should go beyond being a campaign slogan, urging women leaders to take ownership of the message and communicate the administration’s policies, opportunities and achievements directly to citizens.

She identified stronger women-to-women networks at ward, local government and community levels as a key component of the campaign strategy.

She also tasked the council with identifying women requiring assistance, connecting them with available empowerment programmes and ensuring that beneficiaries became agents of development within their communities.

The APC women leader further urged members to take the message of reform, opportunity and prosperity to every community while listening to citizens’ concerns and providing constructive feedback to party and government leaders.

She said the final component of the strategy would be to move beyond mobilisation to measurable results through clearly defined responsibilities, functional grassroots structures, regular engagement and accountability.

The inauguration marks the commencement of the APC’s women-led mobilisation machinery for the 2027 elections, with the party relying on its extensive female leadership network to strengthen its grassroots presence and pursue electoral victories across the country.
