The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, presided over by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, has adjourned the ongoing trial of music promoter Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee, to September 26, 2025.
ThankGod and his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, are facing a seven-count charge filed by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges border on alleged foreign exchange malpractice and money laundering amounting to $397,106.
The case, initially before Justice Owoeye, was reassigned to Justice Aneke earlier this year. At Friday’s resumed hearing, the EFCC presented its first witness, Mohammed Timta. However, the defence, led by Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, informed the court that parties were close to reaching an out-of-court resolution.
“We are on the verge of reaching an agreement and request one final opportunity to do so. Should that fail, the prosecution will proceed with trial,” Ojukwu said.
One of the charges alleges that in June 2023, the defendant conducted an unauthorized foreign exchange transaction involving $52,895 with one Mr. Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke, contrary to Sections 5 and 29 of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous (Provisions) Act, Cap F34, LFN 2004.
Following the submissions, Justice Aneke granted the adjournment and fixed September 26, 2025 for further proceedings.
