Major General W. Shaibu, the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), emphasized the necessity for unwavering commitment, dedication, and discipline among the troops under Operation HADIN KAI’s purview. His directive was imparted during an operational visit to Headquarters Sector 2 OPHK in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, marking his inaugural engagement within the Sector’s Area of Responsibility.
The primary purpose of his visit was to acquaint himself with the Formation, assess the troops’ performance, and express gratitude for their relentless efforts in combating the residual terrorist presence within the Theatre of Operations. Major General Shaibu acknowledged the tangible impact of their sacrifices, citing the restoration of peace and normalcy in the region as evidence.
Assuring the troops of continued support from the Nigerian Army, General Shaibu affirmed the commitment to furnish requisite equipment and resources essential for prosecuting the ongoing counterinsurgency campaign. He underscored the importance of adherence to command directives, emphasizing that with proper resource allocation, adept management, and effective leadership, the objectives of Operation HADIN KAI would be realized.

Upon arrival, Major General Shaibu was received by Major General M.L.D. Saraso, Commander of Sector 2 OPHK, who briefed him on the Sector’s operational dynamics. Additionally, the Theatre Commander visited the 27 Task Force (TF) Brigade in Buni-Gari, where he received a comprehensive briefing from Brigadier General M.J. Abubakar, the Brigade Commander, regarding the Brigade’s operational endeavors. Subsequently, at the Nigerian Army Special Forces School (NASFS) in Buni Yadi, Brigadier General V.D. Beryo, the Commandant, provided a detailed account of the school’s contributions to ongoing operations.
Addressing the troops of the 27 TF Brigade, Major General Shaibu emphasized the significance of inter-agency collaboration while expressing appreciation for their collective efforts. He extended gratitude to the troops of NASFS, recognizing their pivotal role in bolstering operational effectiveness through specialized training initiatives.
Key highlights of the visit included ceremonial proceedings such as the presentation of the quarter guard, exchange of mementos, signing of the visitor’s book, and group photography sessions, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
