Organized by the School of Politics, Policy & Governance (SPPG) in collaboration with the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation, the event titled “Big Ideas Platform” represents a prestigious forum where pioneering concepts are showcased and visionary perspectives are shared.
Building upon the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, which explored avenues for inclusive growth and development, this year’s event, scheduled for May 25th, 2024, under the theme “Information Technology and Behavioural Change,” promises to delve into crucial aspects shaping Africa’s trajectory.
The Big Ideas Platform serves as an intellectual nexus, fostering dialogue and collaboration among exceptional African minds. It offers a marketplace of ideas, facilitating the exchange of innovative solutions and strategies to tackle the continent’s multifaceted challenges.
CEO of SPPG, Alero Ayida-Otobo, underscores the platform’s role as a catalyst for transformative change, emphasizing its capacity to spotlight visionary individuals and catalyze actionable ideas that address the needs of African communities.
Dr. Amina, a faculty member of SPPG, highlights the imperative of harnessing technology for sustainable development, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift in behavior to ensure equitable resource management and systemic transformation.
Key focal areas for the Big Ideas Platform 2024 include blockchain technology, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and environmental awareness. These domains offer innovative solutions to pressing challenges, ranging from safeguarding academic credentials to enhancing environmental stewardship.
Distinguished panelists for this year’s edition include Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, renowned EdTech professional and founder of Passnownow.com; Oluseun Badejo, leading the SPPG Blockchain project; Mrs. Sian (Shan) Cuffy Young, founder of Siel Environmental; and Ahmad Salkida, a respected investigative journalist.
