In a move aimed at bolstering the governance and oversight of Nigeria’s insurance sector, President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the appointment of a cadre of seasoned professionals to the Board of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
The newly appointed members are as follows:
- Halima Kyari – Chairperson
- Olusegun Ayo Omosehin – Commissioner for Insurance
- Olawoye Gam-Ikon – Deputy Commissioner (Technical Operations)
- Usman Ankara Jimada – Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Administration)
- Miriam Kene Kachikwu – Member
- Adeniyi Olusegun Fabikun – Member
- Umar Khalifa Mohammed – Member
President Tinubu has articulated his expectations for the newly constituted Board, emphasizing the paramount importance of upholding the principles of integrity and transparency in steering the NAICOM. The Board is entrusted with the crucial responsibility of ensuring the stability and viability of the insurance sector, safeguarding the interests of policyholders, and fostering public trust and confidence in the industry.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, reiterated the President’s confidence in the appointed members’ capacity to effectively discharge their duties and drive the NAICOM towards its mandate of promoting a robust and resilient insurance landscape in Nigeria.
