Operation DELTA SANITY: Forward Operating Base troops deactivates two illegal refining sites Delta

In a strategic move targeting illegal refining activities, Forward Operating Base (FOB) ESCRAVOS uncovered and subsequently neutralized two clandestine refining sites on Monday, April 29th, 2024. The operation, dubbed “DELTA SANITY,” took place in the Ajomo Community, situated within the Warri South-West Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State, Nigeria.

The discovery revealed a substantial cache of stolen crude oil at the illicit facilities. The crackdown marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat illegal oil activities, which have long plagued the region, causing environmental degradation and economic losses.

Authorities have yet to disclose the exact quantity of crude oil seized during the operation. However, it underscores the persistent challenges faced by security forces in curbing the illicit trade, which often fuels instability and criminality in the Niger Delta region.

The successful mission demonstrates the commitment of security agencies to uphold law and order, safeguarding Nigeria’s valuable natural resources and the welfare of its citizens. Investigations into the illicit activities are underway, with efforts aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible for the illegal refining operations.

The operation serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against oil theft and illegal refining activities in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta region, highlighting the need for sustained vigilance and collaborative efforts to address the root causes of the problem.
