Governor Yusuf attributes the current state of relative peace and tranquility in Kano to the enhanced collaboration among various security agencies operating within the state. This collaborative effort has notably included the involvement of the troops of the 455 Base Services Group (BSG) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) stationed in Kano, as part of the security Joint Task Force.
In a recent meeting with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, on Thursday, 2nd May 2024, Governor Kabir Yusuf underscored the pivotal role played by the NAF, alongside other security agencies, in addressing security challenges such as insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry, particularly prevalent in the northern region of Nigeria. Governor Yusuf expressed his commitment to continuing support for NAF units in Kano despite financial constraints faced by security agencies, emphasizing the importance of their collaborative efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the state.
Air Marshal Abubakar, during his visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, acknowledged the longstanding partnership between the NAF and Kano State. He lauded the NAF’s contributions to maintaining security across the country through the effective utilization of air power and commended Governor Yusuf for his dedication to security, economic growth, and social development in Kano.
In response, Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to fostering peace and progress in Kano, expressing gratitude for the support provided by the NAF in maintaining security and facilitating economic activities within the state. Air Marshal Abubakar also assured the Emir of Kano of the NAF’s continued collaboration with traditional institutions in promoting socio-economic and cultural development within the state.
