Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, based in N’djamena, Chad, criticized some media outlets for inadvertently amplifying this message. Abdullahi condemned the propaganda as a desperate act of intimidation from a group nearing defeat.
He emphasized that as multinational forces intensify their operations, such propaganda is expected to increase. Abdullahi called on communities to remain resolute, vigilant, and confident in their security. He assured that MNJTF and Nigerian Operation HADIN KAI troops are dedicated to protecting Lake Chad Basin communities, actively pursuing Boko Haram terrorists, and swiftly neutralizing threats.
Abdullahi described the terrorists’ ultimatum as a sign of their frustration and weakening power, highlighting their impaired capability to conduct ground operations, which has led them to rely on scare tactics like Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). He urged residents not to succumb to fear but to demonstrate resilience.
The officer urged Kukawa and neighboring communities to stay united and report any suspicious activities to the troops. He stressed that collective vigilance and cooperation are crucial during and beyond Operation Lake Sanity 2, reinforcing that unity is the key to ensuring the security of the Lake Chad Basin region.
