Personnel Welfare: CAS presents new vehicles to air warrant officers

In a move aimed at boosting morale, ensuring discipline, and upholding essential military traditions, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, presented new pickup vehicles to nine Air Warrant Officers (AWOs) at a ceremony held at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base, Asokoro, Abuja.

In a statement, Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said the brief yet vibrant ceremony emphasized the critical role of human resources in achieving organizational goals. Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted that the welfare and motivation of personnel are pivotal to the success of the NAF. “AWOs are a selected breed of distinguished Senior Non-Commissioned Officers on whom the Service places the onerous task of maintaining regimentation and discipline as well as upholding military ethics and traditions among airmen/airwomen across the NAF,” he remarked.

Acknowledging the selfless service and exemplary lifestyle of these distinguished officers, who serve as mentors to their subordinates, Air Marshal Abubakar stated that this recognition was in honor of their significant contributions to the NAF’s successes. He urged the AWOs to continue voicing the needs of their subordinates to inform impactful policy decisions.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, the most senior AWO, Menone Perefhibo, thanked the CAS for his unwavering support and commitment to enhancing personnel welfare. He noted that the presentation of the vehicles was a testament to the CAS’s dedication to their well-being and acknowledged the conducive environment created under his leadership.

In addition to the vehicle presentation, Air Marshal Abubakar commissioned a new garden and park at NAF Base, Asokoro, and a Sewage Treatment Plant across the Estate. The plant, consisting of six sewage treatment plants and six lift stations, aims to provide a clean and healthy living environment for NAF personnel and their families, aligning with the CAS’s focus on welfare and infrastructural renewal.

At the commissioning, the CAS expressed gratitude to the NAF Investment Limited Group of Companies, NAF Housing and Construction Company, and other partners for their efforts in delivering the facility. He urged residents to handle the system responsibly and report any suspicious activities to ensure its sustainability.

These initiatives underscore the CAS’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and operational effectiveness of NAF personnel through strategic investments in both human and physical capital. The event was attended by senior officers from HQ NAF, including Branch Chiefs and Directors, as well as the Managing Director of BIOTECH, Mr. Aena Talabi, and other BIOTECH staff members.
