Police inspector arrested for Fatal shooting along Zamare/Yauri road 

The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest and detention of Inspector Nura Ahmad for the fatal shooting of Ahmad Ibrahim along the Zamare/Yauri road. Inspector Ahmad, attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base 18 in Zamfara State, was on stop-and-search duty when the incident occurred on June 13, 2024, at approximately 1:00 AM. Ahmad Ibrahim, a 20-year-old resident of Yauri town, was shot in the chest during a confrontation with the officer. Despite being rushed to General Hospital Yauri, he was declared dead by a medical doctor.

In response to the incident, Inspector Ahmad has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and his unprofessional conduct.

The Kebbi State Police Command has condemned the officer’s actions and extended condolences to the family, friends, and well-wishers of the late Ahmad Ibrahim. The Command has assured the public that justice will be served and that the outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.

“We are committed to ensuring a transparent investigation and holding those responsible accountable,” said SP Nafiu Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Police Command.
