In celebration of the Nigerian Army Day (NADCEL) 2024, the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 6 Division Chapter, provided free medical services to the Upata Kingdom in Edeoha, Ahoada East Local Government Area.
According to Acting Deputy Director 6 Division Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), represented by Brigadier General Eddet Effiong, highlighted that Upata Kingdom was chosen for this outreach to acknowledge and solidify the bond between the 6 Division and the community. The outreach is part of the Army’s non-kinetic approach to addressing national security challenges, emphasizing community collaboration and peacebuilding.

Major General Abdussalam reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to protecting citizens from threats, stating that community support and timely information are crucial for effective security operations. Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam, Chairperson of NAOWA 6 Division Chapter, encouraged continuous community support for the Armed Forces, acknowledging the sacrifices of military personnel in safeguarding the nation.
His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) Newton Felix Otuwarikpo, the royal father of Upata Kingdom, expressed gratitude for the much-needed healthcare services, noting the community’s reliance on local treatments due to healthcare shortages. He reassured the GOC of the community’s ongoing support and their desire for a military base in the Kingdom.
