In a recent special clearance operation, troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with a hybrid force, neutralized 11 ISWAP terrorists in Jongo Village, a known terrorist enclave within Sambisa Forest.
During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the elimination of 11 fighters, while others fled in disarray. Following the engagement, the troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the area, leading to the capture of various arms and ammunition. The seized weapons included 99 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm on metal link, 19 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm, three AK-47 rifle magazines, two 36 hand grenades, and two locally made guns.
This successful mission highlights the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army in combating terrorism and enhancing security in the region. The neutralization of ISWAP terrorists and the confiscation of their weapons are significant steps towards securing stability and demonstrating the Nigerian military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and protecting citizens.
