President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been named the Director-General of the NIA. With a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995, Ambassador Mohammed has held various significant roles, including serving as the head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, he has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has been appointed the new Director-General of the DSS. Ajayi, who previously held the position of Assistant Director-General, has risen through the ranks, with a career spanning various states, including Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi, where he served as State Director.
These appointments follow the resignation of the former heads of the NIA and DSS. President Tinubu has charged the new leaders with the responsibility of revitalizing the agencies, emphasizing the importance of enhanced collaboration with other security bodies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to address the country’s security challenges.
The President expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors.
