- Focuses on Global Collaboration for Enhanced Policing
The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, alongside Nigerian delegates, has arrived in Glasgow, United Kingdom, to attend the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly.
This significant event, scheduled from November 4 to 7, 2024, brings together Heads of Police and Police Chiefs from 196 member nations to address pressing international security issues.
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the Nigerian delegation is led by Senator Dr. Ibrahim Gaidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, and includes INTERPOL Africa Vice President AIG Garba Umar (rtd), CP Olaolu Adegbite of INTERPOL Nigeria, and CP Johnson Adenola, Principal Staff Officer to the IGP. During the assembly, Nigerian representatives will hold bilateral discussions with Europol and other international security agencies to address global crime, policing governance, and data management strategies.
IGP Egbetokun aims to leverage the outcomes of these discussions to enhance the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and the West African Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO), of which he serves as chairman, in combating organized crime within Nigeria and the broader West African region. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to international collaboration through INTERPOL for joint investigations and reducing transnational crime.
