The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, hosted the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, and his team from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) at the Force Headquarters.
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa AdejobiThe delegation included top officials such as Dr. Usman Jankara, Mr. Ekerete Ola Gam-Ikon, Dr. Talmiz Usman, Mr. Ajibola Bankole, and Mr. Taiwo Babatola Adeoye.
During the meeting, Mr. Omosehin lauded the IGP for his achievements, notably the creation of the Police Insurance Bank Limited. He sought the Nigeria Police Force’s (NPF) assistance in enforcing compliance with insurance laws, especially the mandatory third-party insurance for all vehicle owners.

In response, IGP Egbetokun reiterated the significance of third-party insurance, announcing February 1, 2025, as the start date for its enforcement. He highlighted that under Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Section 312 of the 1945 Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Act, it is mandatory for all vehicle owners to have third-party insurance to drive on public roads. He urged Nigerians to comply with these laws to avoid penalties, which include fines or imprisonment.
The NPF reaffirmed its commitment to working with all agencies and companies to protect the lives and property of Nigerian citizens.
