IGP appoints CP Shogunle to lead SIS, CSP Ogarashi as force marine officer

In a strategic move to strengthen internal security and enhance law enforcement capabilities, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) Abayomi Shogunle to head the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), Elections Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and the Safe School Protection Squad.

Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Chima Ogarashi has been named the new Force Marine Officer (FMO) to bolster security along Nigeria’s inland waterways.

CP Shogunle, a seasoned law enforcement officer with expertise in operations and public relations, will oversee efforts to combat security challenges, ensure smooth electoral processes, and safeguard schools nationwide. Meanwhile, CSP Ogarashi will leverage his maritime security experience to enhance law enforcement and maritime law enforcement efforts.

These appointments come as the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) prepares to unveil 25 newly acquired gunboats, with further plans to expand its maritime security assets. This move underscores the Force’s commitment to improving security operations along the country’s waterways, ensuring the protection of lives, property, and economic activities.

The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to addressing security threats and maintaining a safer environment for all Nigerians.
