The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Adam Imam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, over the alleged diversion of more than N3 billion in public funds.
According to the ICPC, Yusuf had been on the run before operatives tracked him down and arrested him at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja. He is now in custody and will face prosecution.
Investigations revealed that the alleged fraud was orchestrated through 92 fictitious companies, none of which were registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The scheme reportedly involved diverting public funds meant for official use into private accounts through these shell companies.
The ICPC has assured the public that it remains committed to tackling corruption in public institutions and bringing offenders to justice. Authorities are expected to release further details as the case progresses.
