The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has reiterated the need for a collective approach in tackling oil theft and related crimes in the Niger Delta.
According to Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Major General Emekah urged all stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to collaborate in boosting exploration activities while reaffirming the Division’s commitment to protecting critical national assets and ensuring regional security. He emphasized openness to partnerships that would enhance oil production and national development. “As a government entity, we are committed to working with security agencies and government organizations to achieve success,” he stated.
In response, Major General Sarham highlighted the importance of local security collaboration in safeguarding critical infrastructure, particularly pipelines and oil installations. He reaffirmed NGSCSL’s commitment to supporting Government Security Agencies (GSAs) through intelligence-sharing and operational assistance, given its deep understanding of the region’s security landscape.
He further noted that NGSCSL works closely with private security firms, serving as a key liaison between them and GSAs to provide accurate intelligence for security operations. He assured the 6 Division of continued support in achieving its mission of securing the hydrocarbon sector.
