Suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has denied allegations made by former Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, regarding his alleged support for Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed’s 2027 presidential bid and involvement in plans to attack oil pipelines.
In a statement issued on Friday, March 28, 2025, Fubara described Nwaeke’s claims as “laughable” and “baseless.” He stated that Nwaeke, as a civil servant, could not have been privy to high-level political meetings, let alone have attended alleged night meetings with Bala Mohammed and militants.
“The whole world knew when the Bauchi State Governor, as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum, visited Rivers State. There was nothing secret about the visits,” Fubara said.
He also dismissed accusations of plotting with militants to attack national assets, stating that he has consistently advocated for peace despite provocations.
Fubara alleged that Nwaeke had been “compromised” and was acting under pressure from those seeking to undermine him and disrupt the peace process initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
“I urge all well-meaning Nigerians and the good people of Rivers State to disregard Dr. Nwaeke’s statements, as they are nothing more than desperate attempts to discredit me and my administration,” Fubara concluded.
