Easter 2025: IGP felicitates Christians, orders tight security nationwide

As Christians across Nigeria and the world prepare to celebrate Easter 2025, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended warm greetings to the Christian community, acknowledging the season as one symbolizing hope, renewal, and sacrifice.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the IGP urged Christians to reflect on these values and continue fostering peace, unity, and goodwill within their communities.

In line with ensuring a peaceful celebration, the IGP has directed all Commissioners of Police across state commands, alongside their supervising Assistant Inspectors-General, to implement robust security measures. These include enhanced visibility policing, intelligence gathering, and strategic deployment of personnel to key public locations such as places of worship, recreational centres, highways, and other high-traffic areas.

The Police Chief emphasized the importance of proactive patrols and quick response strategies to deter criminal activities and ensure public safety throughout the Easter period.

The IGP also called on Nigerians to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies by sharing credible information that could help prevent security breaches. He further advised citizens to remain security conscious, avoid excesses, and exercise caution, particularly while driving on highways.

The Nigeria Police Force reassures all Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring a safe and crime-free Easter celebration.
