Summit University, Offa, has achieved a significant dual milestone, underscoring its emergence as a force in Nigeria’s higher education sector. Within 48 hours of receiving a transformative ₦100 million endowment from the Isiaq Family Foundation (IFF), the University secured full accreditation for its Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Accounting programme from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
The ICAN Council, following recommendations from its Students’ Affairs Committee, granted the accreditation after confirming the programme met all required standards. The next accreditation review is scheduled for the 2027/2028 academic session.
The development affirms Summit University’s commitment to academic excellence and professional relevance, positioning its accounting graduates for global competitiveness in the dynamic financial sector.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu hailed the accreditation and the endowment as a timely validation of the University’s trajectory. “This is divine alignment,” he said. “The ICAN recognition, following the extraordinary support from the Isiaq Family Foundation, sends a powerful signal that Summit University is firmly on the path of greatness.”
The ₦100 million endowment, announced during the 11th Triennial Conference of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria in Abeokuta, will enhance accounting education at the University. Led by Alhaji Kola Isiaq-Balogun, the IFF package includes scholarships, a Professorial Chair in Accounting, a research grant, the establishment of an Accounting Technology Laboratory (AccTech Lab), and awards for outstanding students. The fund also provides for solar energy and internet infrastructure to support uninterrupted digital learning.
The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, founders of the University, celebrated the dual achievements as evidence of their commitment to academic and moral distinction. The combined developments reflect growing confidence in Summit University’s direction and highlight the impact of visionary philanthropy aligned with institutional ambition.
As part of its distinctive educational model, Summit University prioritises seven transformative skills, including proficiency in ICT and AI, financial literacy, “acadopreneurship” (a fusion of academic and entrepreneurial training), historical and cultural knowledge, clean energy expertise, storytelling, and global citizenship.
Through this integrated approach, the University is nurturing not just capable professionals, but visionary leaders equipped to shape the future of Nigeria and the wider world.
