EFCC nabs nine internet fraudsters  in Kaduna

In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, on Monday, June 2, 2025, apprehended nine individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud in the Sabo area of Kaduna State capital.

According to a statement released by the EFCC, the arrests were the result of credible intelligence gathered about the suspects’ alleged participation in various forms of online fraud. Acting on this intelligence, EFCC operatives conducted a swift operation that led to the successful arrest of the suspects.

During the raid, a number of items believed to be connected to fraudulent activities were recovered. These included nine iPhones, 17 Android phones, four power banks, three necklaces, two bangles, and one headphone. The items are currently in the custody of the EFCC and will serve as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

A spokesperson for the EFCC reiterated the commission’s commitment to combating cybercrime across the country, noting that such arrests are part of its broader efforts to sanitize the digital space and protect Nigerians from falling victim to online scams.

The suspects are currently undergoing rigorous investigation at the EFCC’s Kaduna office. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged to court in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law.

The EFCC has also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activities or individuals who may be involved in fraudulent schemes.

The Commission assured the public that it will continue to intensify its efforts to rid the country of internet fraudsters and other forms of economic and financial crimes.
