The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has assured the Nigerian Shippers’ Council of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued support to bolster security in the marine and blue economy sector.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP made this pledge today, Tuesday, 3rd June 2025, during a meeting with the Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, and his delegation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Akutah expressed gratitude to the IGP for the warm reception and highlighted the pivotal role of the Police in the Council’s enforcement activities, including the implementation of the Nigerian Port Manual. He underscored the importance of the partnership in improving transparency and operational efficiency along port corridors. Dr. Akutah also sought enhanced collaboration with the Police to support surveillance and monitoring operations nationwide.
Responding, IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to supporting the Council’s initiatives and emphasized the importance of securing the ports to promote economic growth. He assured the delegation of the Police Force’s readiness to work closely with the Council’s Joint Task Teams to fulfill their shared mandate in advancing national development.
