Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN, under the ongoing Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, have neutralised a bandit, rescued a kidnapped victim, and recovered arms and ammunition during an ambush operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops laid an ambush along the Kampani Zurak–Sabon Gari road where the kidnappers were transporting their victim. The soldiers engaged the criminals, killing one, while others fled into the surrounding bushes, abandoning the victim.
The rescued victim, identified as 45-year-old Mr. Adamu Alhaji Nuhu, was safely evacuated. Troops also recovered a fabricated pistol, a pistol magazine, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, a Boxer motorcycle, and other items left behind by the fleeing suspects.
The recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation, while follow-up operations are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, reaffirmed the commitment of the troops to sustain aggressive operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the region.
