CAS honors NAF veterans at nationwide reunion

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on July 5, 2025, held a nationwide Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Veterans’ Parley to honour retired personnel for their courage, sacrifice, and service. The event, conducted simultaneously across NAF Commands and units, was part of Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar’s initiative to strengthen unity, recognize heritage, and promote veterans’ welfare.

The parley brought together hundreds of retired officers and airmen, offering a platform for remembrance, shared stories from past operations, and open dialogue on post-service challenges.

In a special nationwide message, Air Marshal Abubakar described the engagement as “a national call to remembrance, reflection, and reconnection,” stressing the NAF’s unwavering appreciation for its veterans. “You are living embodiments of courage and commitment,” he said. “Your legacy forms the bedrock of the Nigerian Air Force we proudly serve in today.”

He further pledged continued support for veterans through improved healthcare access, enhanced pension systems, and better reintegration support. “This is your home, and your voice will always count,” he assured.

Across the country—from Kaduna to Port Harcourt and Bauchi to Calabar—veterans were warmly received by serving personnel. In Bayelsa, Retired Master Warrant Officer Apreala Edmund expressed gratitude, saying, “We never asked for thanks, but today, we feel seen.” Another veteran in Kano called the parley “a humbling reminder of the legacy we once risked everything for.”

The event underscored the NAF’s commitment to honouring its past while building a future rooted in service, unity, and institutional pride.
