151 senior officers face police disciplinary panel over misconduct

In a bid to strengthen internal accountability and uphold professional standards, the Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers for various alleged infractions.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the officers, drawn from commands and formations nationwide, are appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The FDC is tasked with reviewing cases involving breaches of conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations by officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above. Its findings and recommendations will be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for further action.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reiterated the Force’s zero tolerance for indiscipline, stressing the importance of integrity and ethical conduct within the police ranks.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to fostering professionalism, integrity, and public trust,” the IGP stated, emphasizing that disciplinary measures are vital to building a credible, service-oriented institution.
