At a recent high-level meeting in Abuja, ACSS Director Ms. Amanda Dory led a delegation in talks with ECOWAS Commission Vice President, Ms. Damtien Tchintchibidja. The discussions focused on advancing joint efforts in peacebuilding, strategic leadership, and human development.

Both institutions emphasized the need to bolster early warning systems, enhance human security, and promote resilient governance frameworks. ACSS expressed continued support for ECOWAS’s “One ECOWAS” vision, particularly in aligning peace and security initiatives with regional priorities.

Key outcomes of the meeting include agreement on enhanced collaboration in:

  • Capacity building for ECOWAS and Member State personnel

  • Strategic leadership development for peace and security professionals

  • Information sharing and the exchange of best practices

  • Leveraging new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, for data-driven decision-making and scenario-based forecasting

Vice President Tchintchibidja highlighted ECOWAS’s commitment to improving its early warning capabilities as part of efforts to strengthen the ECOWAS Peace and Security Architecture.

The meeting underscored the shared goal of creating more cohesive, responsive, and adaptive systems for regional stability and sustainable human development.
