The Senate Committee on Army has commended the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division for the remarkable level of infrastructural development at the Port Harcourt Barracks.
According to Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Division Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the commendation came during the committee’s oversight visit to the barracks on July 22, 2025. Led by the Vice Chairman, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, the delegation praised the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and his team for the quality and scope of ongoing and completed projects.

Senator Fasuyi encouraged the Division to adopt a forward-looking approach in its project planning, ensuring that infrastructure initiatives are sustainable and directly improve the welfare of troops and their families. He also advised the Division to submit a realistic budget proposal to support the execution of future development projects.
Welcoming the delegation, Major General Emekah, GOC of 6 Division, expressed appreciation for the Committee’s continued support and oversight, noting that their involvement has positively impacted the pace and quality of infrastructure in the barracks.
The visit featured presentations on operational updates and ongoing projects, as well as an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
