Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has described the Super Falcons as Nigeria’s strongest ambassadors, following their triumphant performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
In a congratulatory message released after the team’s dramatic comeback victory over host nation Morocco on Saturday night, Odumegwu-Ojukwu praised the team’s resilience, discipline, and unity. The win marked a historic 10th WAFCON title for the Super Falcons—extending their record as the most successful women’s national team in Africa.
“You have once again made us proud. Despite the setback in the first half, you returned with renewed determination and stamped your authority on the game,” she stated. “Fired by the Nigerian spirit, you silenced the home crowd with your outstanding performance.”
Before the match, the minister had released a viral morale-boosting video in which she described the Falcons as “formidable, indisputable, and the strongest ambassadors of the nation.”
Reflecting on their victory, she added: “You demonstrated the heart of true champions—exceptional character, resilience, and a clear unity of purpose. The mission was accomplished, and Nigeria celebrates you.”
