In a sustained offensive against violent crime and armed criminal networks, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have neutralized three armed bandits and recovered ten AK-47 rifles in a series of intelligence-led operations carried out in July 2025.
In a statement on Sunday July 27, 2025, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the operations, conducted by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), spanned Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States. During multiple armed confrontations, the bandits were fatally subdued while attempting to evade arrest. Several others escaped with gunshot injuries, abandoning their weapons in the process.
The recovered firearms have been linked to a range of serious crimes, including kidnappings, armed robberies, gunrunning, and cattle rustling. Follow-up operations are ongoing to track and apprehend fleeing syndicate members reportedly responsible for deadly attacks on communities within the affected areas.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He emphasized that intelligence-led policing will remain central to dismantling criminal operations across the country.
The Police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity through official channels to support ongoing efforts in securing communities.
