Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has congratulated the Super Falcons on their historic victory at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), praising the team’s resilience, discipline, and national pride.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the Falcons’ 3–2 triumph over Morocco in the final as a proud moment for Nigeria and a reaffirmation of the nation’s dominance in African women’s football.

“This victory is a testament to the team’s resilience, talent, and unyielding national spirit,” Barau said. “It is a moment of immense pride for all Nigerians.”

Barau, who is also the founder of Barau Football Club—recently promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL)—commended the players, coaching crew, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their efforts in securing Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.

“The team’s performance throughout the tournament was inspirational, and it sends a strong message to young Nigerian girls that their dreams are valid,” he added.

He applauded all stakeholders involved in the Falcons’ success and reaffirmed the importance of continued investment in women’s football.
