The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has charged 30 newly graduated helicopter pilots of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to uphold integrity, commitment, and professionalism in the face of emerging security challenges.
Represented by the Chief of Training and Operations, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Edosa, the CAS gave the charge during the Combined Graduation Ceremony of the Integrated Helicopter Pilot Course 9/2024 and the Airline Transport Pilot Licence Course 2/2025, held on 30 July 2025 at the International Helicopter Flying School (IHFS) in Enugu.
Air Marshal Abubakar noted that operational success in modern warfare goes beyond flying proficiency, requiring adaptability, teamwork, and alignment with joint force objectives. He reminded the graduates that they are entering a dynamic and demanding security environment where national expectations and trust rest on their shoulders.
The event also marked the commissioning of a newly renovated aircraft hangar at IHFS, aimed at enhancing maintenance efficiency and operational readiness. The project is part of broader infrastructure upgrades that include a new school headquarters and 36 student housing units, all geared towards transforming IHFS into a world-class helicopter training facility.
The ceremony further featured the graduation and promotion of IHFS flight instructors who completed the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) course, underscoring the school’s growing instructional capacity in line with international standards.
The CAS commended the IHFS Rector, faculty, and partners — including Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited — for their professionalism and continued support. He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to building a resilient, self-reliant force capable of delivering decisive airpower in Nigeria’s complex operational environment.
