FG names Prof. Mathew Adamu acting Vice-Chancellor UNIABUJA

The Federal Government has appointed Professor Mathew Adamu, FCVSN, KSM, as the new Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja effective Monday, 11 August 2025.

According to a statement by the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Roseline O. Adakayi, Professor Adamu will serve for three months, succeeding Professor Patricia Manko Lar, who held the position in acting capacity for six months from February 2025.

Adakayi commended Professor Lar for her purposeful leadership, academic and administrative stability, and for initiating the process of selecting a substantive Vice-Chancellor in collaboration with relevant university organs.

She noted that Professor Adamu’s mandate includes supporting the Governing Council, chaired by Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, in concluding the appointment process for a substantive Vice-Chancellor in line with statutory provisions.

The University community expressed gratitude to Professor Lar for her service and wished Professor Adamu a successful tenure during the transition period.
