The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved a further extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, shifting the start date to October 2, 2025.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the decision follows a surge in applications via the official portal, indicating increased public compliance. The extension aims to allow thorough vetting of applications to ensure permits are issued only to eligible applicants in line with national security considerations.
It will also enable continued refinement of digital and physical verification processes to protect the integrity of the system and prevent abuse. The Nigeria Police Force reiterated that the only authorized application platform is https://possap.gov.ng and urged the public to report extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing via the hotline 08147818871.
The Force expressed appreciation for public cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to balancing convenience with robust security measures.
