Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have eliminated dozens of terrorists in a coordinated air and ground assault in the Makakkari general area of Gando Forest, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State, on 10 August 2025.
According to Media Information Officer Operation FANSAN YAMMA Captain David Adewusi, the strike followed credible intelligence indicating that a large group of terrorists loyal to the late Halilu Buzu and Alhaji Beti had converged in the forest to launch a reprisal attack on Adabka and Nasarawan Burkullu farming communities. The planned assault was reportedly in retaliation for recent losses suffered by the group in clashes with security forces and hybrid units.
In a follow-up ground operation, OPFY Sector 2 troops intercepted and neutralised fleeing terrorists attempting to escape the aerial bombardment.
OPFY reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists and other armed groups any safe haven in the North West and parts of the North Central Zone. It urged residents to support ongoing operations by promptly reporting suspicious movements, stressing that timely intelligence is critical to safeguarding communities and eradicating terrorism.
