Tinubu constitutes boards for NCC, USPF

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of new board members for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), both under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

According to a statement by Special Adviser to the President Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, Idris Olorunnimbe was named Chairman of the NCC, while Dr. Aminu Waida retains his position as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, a role to which he was appointed in October 2023 and confirmed by the Senate in November of the same year.

Olorunnimbe, a former board member of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), chaired its Stakeholder and Governance Committee and was instrumental in advancing youth employment and entrepreneurship programmes.

Other members of the NCC board include:

  1. Abraham Oshidami – Executive Commissioner, Technical Services

  2. Rimini Makama – Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management

  3. Hajia Maryam Bayi – Former Director, Human Capital & Administration

  4. Col. Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd)

  5. Senator Lekan Mustafa

  6. Chris Okorie

  7. Princess Oforitsenere Emiko

  8. Board Secretary

For the USPF board, Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, will serve as Chairman, with Olorunnimbe as Vice Chairman. Other members include:

  3. Aliyu Edogi Aliyu – Representative, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy

  4. Joseph B. Faluyi – Representative, Federal Ministry of Finance

  5. Auwal Mohammed – Representative, Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning

  6. Uzoma Dozie

  7. Peter Bankole

  8. Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon

  9. Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri

  10. USPF Secretary

The USPF was established to drive universal access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) in rural, unserved, and underserved areas across Nigeria.
