Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered a large cache of high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other military equipment following a successful offensive against suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.

In a statement Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said, the operation, conducted on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji area of Dandi Local Government Area, formed part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal networks operating across Nigeria’s North-West region.

According to the military, troops engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee the area.

A subsequent pursuit operation along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes led to the recovery of several weapons, explosives, and logistical items believed to have been abandoned during the retreat.

Items recovered included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, multiple RPG warheads, several improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers, and other personal effects.

Military authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

The Nigerian Army described the operation as another significant achievement in the ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West.

The Army reiterated the commitment of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to sustaining offensive operations aimed at denying criminal elements freedom of movement and disrupting their activities.

It further assured residents that troops would continue to maintain pressure on terrorist groups and other armed criminals to enhance security and protect lives and property across the region.
