The Nigeria Police Force has secured a key position on the INTERPOL Africa Committee following the election of Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni at the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. Ojajuni’s victory gives Nigeria its fifth seat on the Committee, with a two-year tenure.
The INTERPOL Africa Committee provides guidance to the African Regional Conference, sets strategic crime priorities, facilitates police cooperation across borders, and develops projects to strengthen security across the continent.
This development underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in international law enforcement, particularly in tackling transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging security threats.
Congratulating Ojajuni, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and global cooperation. He pledged that Nigeria would continue to work closely with international partners under the INTERPOL framework to promote peace and security worldwide.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the milestone as a reflection of Nigeria’s leadership role in shaping regional and global policing strategies.
