The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, has expressed confidence in the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd., under Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, to deliver on reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to NNPC Towers in Abuja on Thursday, Orji commended Ojulari’s vision, noting that his leadership comes at a defining moment marked by reforms, renewed investor confidence, and increased indigenous participation in the sector. He urged NNPC Ltd. to remain a model of transparency, accountability, and efficiency, describing these values as vital to restoring public trust and safeguarding Nigeria’s foremost national asset.

Ojulari reaffirmed the company’s commitment to global accountability standards, disclosing that NNPC has reinstated the publication of monthly financial and operational reports and strengthened internal reporting structures. He pledged full compliance with NEITI and Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) principles, stressing that ongoing internal reforms are designed to deepen disclosure and accountability.

On the forthcoming NEITI 2024 Oil and Gas Audit, Ojulari said NNPC Ltd. is fully prepared to provide comprehensive data for both the 2024 and 2025 audits, leveraging technology to enhance timeliness and accuracy.

He reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s directive to boost oil and gas production and expand refining capacity, stressing that achieving these targets would require attracting $60 billion in new investments, alongside strengthened partnerships with operators, government agencies, and accountability institutions like NEITI.
