Tinubu orders immediate review of security oprations in Katsina

President Bola Tinubu has directed an immediate review of security operations in Katsina State following recent bandit attacks, assuring that the federal government will strengthen both state police initiatives and forest guard deployments.

According to Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President speaking at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, while receiving a delegation of Katsina leaders led by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the President announced plans to deploy advanced military hardware, including drones and surveillance gadgets, to enhance security in the state.

Tinubu emphasised that state policing, though previously politicised, had become necessary to address peculiar local security challenges. “We must protect our children, people, livelihood, places of worship, and recreational spaces. They can’t intimidate us,” he said, while mandating daily feedback on security operations in Katsina.

The President also assured that former President Muhammadu Buhari would be honoured and immortalised for his contributions to Nigeria, describing his legacy as one of “success and resilience.”

Governor Radda expressed gratitude to the President for his consistent support, including the appointment of Katsina indigenes to key federal positions and ongoing infrastructural projects. He appealed for further federal intervention in security, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.

Other leaders at the meeting, including former Governor Aminu Bello Masari and the Waziri of Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Ida, commended the President’s commitment to completing major projects such as the Kano–Maradi rail line, while calling for upgrades to the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport and enhanced security in Southern Katsina.
