The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding defence cooperation with Turkish defence firm ASELSAN, with a focus on radar systems, air defence, and precision technologies.
Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, gave the assurance on Tuesday during the visit of ASELSAN’s President and CEO, Mr. Ahmet Akyol, to NAF Headquarters in Abuja.
Air Marshal Abubakar said the engagement would help consolidate ongoing collaboration and open new avenues to enhance NAF’s operational capacity in addressing emerging security threats. He commended ASELSAN as a global leader in defence electronics, noting that its expertise aligns with his vision of building an agile and resilient Air Force capable of safeguarding Nigeria and the sub-region.
“The introduction of advanced radar systems, anti-drone technologies, and precision-guided capabilities will boost our mission effectiveness and contribute to protecting communities across the country,” Abubakar stated.
In response, Mr. Akyol expressed ASELSAN’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the NAF through solutions in radar, avionics modernisation, and air defence systems. He described Nigeria as a strategic partner for Türkiye in Africa and pledged ASELSAN’s continued support in enhancing national and regional security.
The visit marks the latest in a series of high-level defence engagements between both countries, reinforcing their shared commitment to advancing military cooperation for peace and stability.
