The Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the final forfeiture of the sums of $20,000 and CFA 110,000 to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Justice Dehinde Dipeolu gave the ruling on October 15, 2025, following a motion on notice filed by the Lagos Zonal Directorate I of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) through its counsel, H.U. Kofarnaisa.
According to the EFCC, the funds were intercepted by operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Seme Border, located in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, and subsequently handed over to the Commission for further investigation.
After reviewing the application and supporting evidence, the court granted the EFCC’s prayer for the final forfeiture of the seized sums, thereby transferring ownership to the Federal Government.
The ruling reinforces ongoing inter-agency collaboration between the NCS and the EFCC in curbing financial crimes, currency smuggling, and illicit cross-border movements of funds.
